CHRISTMAS IN MARRAKECH
I would love to believe that for you to be reading this topic, you are probably thinking about celebrating your Christmas season in Marrakech or a place that is not home and you at least know a little about the vibrant Marrakech but just in if that’s not the case, I’d be glad to interest you with a little bit of what Christmas is, in Marrakech.
Marrakech nicknamed the “Red City” or “Ochre City”; is a major city of the Kingdom of Morocco and the fourth largest city in the country, after Casablanca, Fez and Tangier. This city is probably the most important of Morocco’s four former imperial cities and is famous for its Djemma El Fna, Museums, mountains, waterfalls and buzzing non-stop street entertainment.
Christmas in Marrakech is a bit differently celebrated than you’d probably be used to, don’t expect the usual excitements and transformations that come with the festive season from the majority of the locals as most of them are Muslims but this is what I find refreshing. The fact that you can go to shops, even banks and meet them open is an awesome feeling. Christmas in Marrakech is really a place to escape the usual Christmas pantomime.

The city isn’t, however, immune to Christmas celebrations, big thanks to its multicultural affluence and one can still attend Christian church services at the Protestant or Catholic churches in Gueliz. You can get special Christmas themed menus and events at the more international restaurants, nightclubs, and bars so you can celebrate Christmas and the New Year in grand style.
Celebrating Christmas in Marrakech is quite an intriguing Christmas experience, but it is certainly one to remember and hopefully a far less stressful experience especially if a full-on family Christmas at home is not really what you are after this year then, it is what you should be after.
Colourful, vibrant and with a temperature of between 10 to 32 ºC that is warm and not scorching in the afternoon and even cool and cosy in the evening, Marrakech is the perfect place for a festive break filled with alternative discoveries.
Why not try something new this year if you haven’t done so in a while or at all. Christmas in Marrakech is a popular choice, for those wanting to get away from the commercialism of a modern-day European Christmas or the usual festivity of your country.
