History was made yesterday as Kenya Airways made its first direct flight to US. Kenya Airways Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner which left the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi for New York City, USA, at exactly 11.48pm on Sunday, 28th October, 2018 was pictured landing at the John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, at 2.51pm on Monday, 29th October, 2018.
The flight was welcomed at JFK Airport with traditional water salute. See video @officialkenyaairways.
Speaking at the airport shortly before the departure, President Kenyatta said that the direct flights will open up Kenya to the rest of the world.
“These flights are set to provide a seamless experience for business and leisure travelers alike. It will allow the world to taste Kenya’s diverse cultures and hospitality,” he said.
This is a historic flight in Kenya’s aviation industry and is commendable. We congratulate Kenya on this Milestone.
